Post Lappish winter memories

Two weeks back in Belgium so I could take some time to go through photos, organise and edit them. Here is a couple of series with some written thoughts.

A weekend out with my colleague and friend Kim and his family on the Haparanda archipelago (in the Baltic sea on the Swedish/Finnish border). We visited the national park “Saariston Luonnonpuisto”. Although the harsh winter was already over a that time which means longer day and fewer clothes, the snowmobile and skiing season was still far from over. I enjoyed a lot the first signs from spring like seeing some ground around trees, first insects, … made me happy as a child 🙂

After a good day of hitch hiking I made it back to Turku in the south of Finland where I left my bicycle for the winter. I was again warmly welcomed by Henna and her housemates and stayed for a week before hitting the road again on the bicycle.

I almost forgot my juggling stuff and therefore almost missed the ferry but I made it as planned to Stockholm, where I was hosted again by Aimee one of the many nice Warmshowers experiences. After a week with days of riding in summer conditions and nights sleeping under the stars in Southern Sweden I arrived in Goteborg where I was again hosted by some amazing globetrotter cyclists. From there on I crossed with the ferry to Denmark to ride the West coast and to finish this first big cycling trip just over the Danish / German border where I took the bus home (after missing the train)

First point of interest after arriving in Denmark with the ferry was Skagen where the Baltic Sea and the North Sea meet each other. After that I cycled down the Danish West Coast; cycling through the dunes, over the beach and for a couple of days with the wind slightly or complete in the back.
